Kochi Airport to Munnar

Your arrival at Kochi Airport will be met by our tour representative who will take you to Munnar in the comfort of a chauffeur driven car.  The drive to Munnar will take around four hours and will give you a flavour of what is to come.  Pause for photos on the Neriamangalam bridge over the Periyar River to admire the views and the scenery.   Your guide will also stop at the Cheeyappara and Valara Waterfalls.  Water is a significant part of the landscape and economy in Kerala and also, as you will discover, a key element in its radiant beauty and serene atmosphere.

Munnar Sightseeing

Explore Munnar, a hill station rich in history and culture.  Rolling green slopes are fed by three mountain streams, Mudrapuzha, Nallathanni and Kundale, to create a verdant grower’s landscape for tea, coffee and spices.  Plantations blanket the hills and can be explored on foot or by bike.  Lakes and lagoons are another feature of this exotic paradise and make the perfect picnic spot for your first day in Munnar.  Visit the shores of Mattupetty and watch the different breeds of cattle come to the lakeside to drink before wending your way slowly back to Munnar for tea and dinner in your resort.

Munnar to Thekkady

Thekkady is famous for its wildlife reserve which is almost 800 sq km and is the perfect location to spot wildlife and enjoy nature.  There is a central lake at the Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary and taking to the water on a lake cruise is the ideal way to observe the different species as they are drawn down to the lakeside to drink. 

If food and responsible farming interest you then make sure you don’t miss out on a visit to Green Park, a rich mix of fruit, vegetable and spice farming.  A knowledgeable guide will answer all your questions about the produce from this working farm, a chance to touch, taste and learn.

Thekkady to Kumarakom

Kumarakom to Kovalam

The bay at Kovalam is divided by nature into three beaches of varying sizes and seclusion, made famous in the sixties by hippies who felt the magical properties of these beautiful surroundings overlooking the Arabian Sea.  The largest beach is watched over by a 30-metre high lighthouse which lends the beach its name, well worth a visit as the views are stunning at sunset.  Enjoy a lazy walk on golden sands after your journey from Kumarakom.

Kovalam Sightseeing

Head for the tropical palm-fringed sands for some relaxing downtime.  Swim with the dolphins in the turquoise waters of the Arabian Sea or just relax and watch the world go by.  Whilst unspoilt, the beaches at Kovalam do have sufficient amenities to buy or hire so your stay will be enjoyable. 

There are clusters of little cafes and restaurants to keep you fed and watered but they don’t intrude on this picturesque and tropical paradise.  Retire to your hotel for the night with views over the ocean and fall asleep to the sounds of waves gently breaking onto the shore.

Alleppey (Houseboat) to Fort Kochi & Departure

A leisurely breakfast is followed by departure to Fort Kochi, a chance to take in the atmosphere and scents and sounds of this bustling port.  Feel and see the influence of earlier colonial visitors, the British, the Portuguese and the Dutch.  Take in some shopping in Jews Street and marvel at the complex shore nets known as Chinese fishing nets, placed on the beach by local fishermen. 

Fort Kochi is conveniently close to the airport at Kochi so there is no need to hurry for your flight.  Your chauffeur will ensure you are there in plenty of time ready to embark for your journey home.
