Marari Beach is an endless vista of sand and surf, but it is more. An authentic experience of the world of Kerala's traditional fishing villages, and a recreation of an ancient, harmonious way of life. Marari beach is perfect for those people exploring the backwaters of Kerala who feel like some time at the beach as well. This beach is quiet and undeveloped. The name Marari is shortened from from Mararikulam, a small and sleepy fisherman's village.
Marari Beach is located in Kerala, a short distance from Alleppey and 60 kilometers (37 miles) from Cochin. Marari isn't a tourist beach but rather a peaceful place to relax and unwind. Those who visit Marari look forward to the slow pace of life, and soaking up the serenity and tranquility on the deserted sandy beaches. A number of interesting day trips are possible around the area. These include the Kumarakom Bird Sanctuary, traditional coir-making units, and the Kerala backwater canals. If you're there during August, you can also check out the Snake Boat Races.
Marari offers endless miles of sandy beaches backed by swaying palms, virgin territory where you can experience the local charm and traditional Kerala hospitality at its best. Explore the marvellous backwaters, where the tranquility, the stunning scenery and the feeling of being transported back in time, make it a superbly relaxing and inspiring experience.

Marari Beach is at its best in the sun, which means it's always at its best! Kerala is sunny and warm all year round, although humidity levels and prices vary. Choose your holiday dates according to which weather conditions you prefer and which activities you plan to enjoy!
The monsoon season spans from June through to October. Torrential rain and widespread flooding make this an imprudent time to undertake outdoor adventure activities, but it's the perfect period to take advantage of off-season prices. As well as this, the rain and flooding mean water levels in the bays and canals are high, ideal for a variety of water-sports. Monsoon season is also known as Ayurveda season, and the intense humidity creates the perfect conditions for you to get the most out of your Ayurveda treatments.
September, at the tail end of the monsoon season, is the ideal time to visit. Prices are still off-season, but the mountains, forests and waterfalls are at the peak of their luscious green beauty. Furthermore, around the August/September period Keralites celebrate the Onam Harvest Festival with Snake Boat Races, in a tradition dating back to paddy-field workers showing off their skills in the water as they harvested the rice. Today, villagers emulate them by competing against each other in beautifully handcrafted boats.
The weather is cooler and drier between October and February. While this is the perfect time to visit beaches, beware of the peak season prices from December to January, as well as larger crowds.
Between March and May, Kerala's summer hits its peak, with sweltering and humid weather, making conditions less than ideal for anything but doing nothing. If you enjoy hot, wet heat, take advantage of the off-season prices and hit up the beach!
In summary, Marari Beach is always beautiful, but September to February is the best time to visit for most people.
Although it's secluded and has eluded stampeding tourist herds so far, Marari Beach is readily accessible from the significant junction towns of Kerala, whether by train or bus. Taxis are a viable option if convenience and privacy are your priorities, but auto-rickshaws are an excellent mode of transportation if you're thirsting for a full immersion experience!

From where should I book houseboat? Is online booking authentic?Which one?
You can look at online reviews and decide on which houseboat to book in Alleppey. We would advise to optimise for experience rather than the cost and opt for a private houseboat instead of a shared houseboat. You can book houseboats from any recognized tour operator in Kerala
